- When you need the onions to be raw, it is better to use sweet onions. By the name, it obviously can be seen that sweet onions have a sweet flavour, and are more sweet than the others, but it is not very tangy.
- White onions are mild and they are also sweet, but not as much as sweet onions. They can be used in potato salads, pasta, salsa, etc.
- Yellow onions are have a strong flavour unlike white onions. They are more tangy, and can make the onion flavour in a dish stand out more.
- Red onions can be had raw just like sweet onions, but their flavour is stronger than sweet onions. Red onions are also very sweet and tangy.
